Elopement in St. Augustine, Florida
Alexis and Ellis chose the beautiful Washington Gardens State Park for their intimate ceremony, surrounded by towering trees, lush greenery, and the soft hum of nature. The park’s historic charm and serene atmosphere created the perfect backdrop for their vows, which they exchanged under the warm Florida sun and palm trees.
After their ceremony, we ventured to the nearby beach for their couple portraits. With all large rocks accompanying the shore, the scene felt very remote even though we were only a short walk from the parking lot.
St. Augustine, with its blend of history, architecture, and natural beauty, offers couples the chance to create memories in a city that feels like a living storybook.
Tips for Eloping in St. Augustine:
Choose the Right Time of Year: While November was perfect for Alexis and Ellis, consider avoiding peak tourist seasons (spring and summer) to make sure your elopement is more intimate and relaxed.
Permits: For ceremonies in parks or other public spaces, check with local authorities about permits. Washington Gardens State Park, for example, requires one for weddings.
Scout Locations: St. Augustine offers many gorgeous locations—beaches, gardens, and historic sites. Choose places that reflect your personal style.
Plan for Weather: Florida weather can be unpredictable, so always have a backup plan, especially if you’re planning to photograph outdoors.
Consider a Local Officiant: Many officiants in St. Augustine specialize in elopements and can guide you through a seamless ceremony.
